Your Dental Records

Patients are entitled to receive a copy of their dental x-rays and records. Requests should be in writing and preferably sent by certified mail. NYS Public Health Law requires that within 10 days of a written request a health care provider must give a patient (or other qualified person) the opportunity to inspect the records and/or provide copies of the records.

Providers may charge reasonable fees to recover costs for copying of records. The "reasonable charge" for paper copies of patient records may not exceed .75 cents per page. For copies of x-rays a "reasonable charge," which does not exceed the cost incurred by the provider, may be charged.
