The dentist should be able to perform at least 80% of root canals in one visit. This course provides the techniques required to achieve this goal, including x-rays of completed cases.
Participants will learn:
• the 7 mm rule to gain access to the pulp chamber without perforation of the furcation;
• how to clean and shape canals without distortion and instrument breakage;
• how to reduce the angle of instrumentation in very curved canals;
• how to test Ni-Ti instruments so they do not break during instrumentation;
• the concept of “straight line access” and why it is so important;
• the time line for irrigation of the root canal for vital and non-vital cases;
• techniques for placing three-dimensional fills in minutes;
• how to quickly and easily “fit” a gutta percha cone;
• how to fill canals with less stress to the root;
• the differences between thermoplastic and room temperature filling techniques;
• simple techniquies to fill lateral and accessory canals;
• how to retain accurate placement of the prefitted gutta percha point in the canal;
• the best interface between gutta percha and the canal;
• how to get to the apex with minimal amounts of apical force; and
• techniques of efficient post placement for the Flex-Post System and Flexi-Fiber System.
Participants should bring a high speed friction grip 4-hole handpiece and a slow speed “E” type
latch contra angle handpiece, and accessed teeth.
RESULTS: Attendees will learn about techniques that improve cleaning, shaping and obturation
procedures, while eliminating the potential of instrument separation in the canal and irritating
overfills.
