CE hours: 6.5
tuition: $350 plus $50 materials fee
course: M1020A
There are key fundamental concepts that determine the long term favorable outcome of esthetic restorations. This course will demonstrate step-by-step, concise restorative treatment planning guidelines that fulfill today’s esthetic demands and integrate current restorative materials and protocols. Procedures and techniques for esthetic and functional success with adhesives, composites and ceramic materials will be reviewed. The hands-on workshop will provide techniques for successful direct posterior Class I and Class II composite resins and Class V restorations, utilizing scientific-based data.
Topics and objectives of this course include:
• enhancing the esthetics and function of teeth: step-by-step preparation techniques, choice
of materials, placement and curing methods for direct and indirect esthetic restorations;
• research based step-by-step application techniques for improving long term durability of
dentin bonding, reducing polymerization shrinkage and contraction stress, microleakage,
and eliminating post-operative sensitivity;
• survival of restorations: composite vs. amalgam vs. ceramic vs. gold;
• cementation: materials, adhesives and techniques for each substrate;
• restoration of direct posterior composites; finishing and polishing techniques; and
• how to get precise and consistent contacts and excellent long term results.
Participants should bring magnification loupes, if you use them; a dental explorer and hemostat (cotton pliers can work too); small portable LED light, if available.
RESULTS: This presentation will examine the scientific evidence to determine how each element plays a critical role in the decision making process when determining which materials, systems and techniques are best when doing direct and indirect esthetic restorations.
This course is partially sponsored by Kuraray Dental, Axis Dental, Triodent and Garrison Dental.
