Patients demand beautiful smiles, white teeth and a youthful appearance. Placing veneers and crowns on teeth does not guarantee predictable, long-term results. Achieving this type of functional and comfortable result requires the integration of the principles of occlusion into the cosmetic picture: form follows function. This presentation will explore the diagnostic steps one must consider in planning an esthetic case.A review of occlusal principles and their relationship with esthetics will be covered in detail. This lecture will review the “Pankey Philosophy” relative to treatment planning and esthetic communication.Esthetic, worn dentition and occlusal cases will be followed from initial visit through treatment and completion. Both conservative and complex cases will be presented.

The lecture will cover:
• digital photography;
• esthetic check list;
• smile;
• buccal corridor;
• esthetic facebow;
• centric relation; and
• anterior guidance.

RESULTS: Participants will be able to analyze occlusal-esthetic cases and how to treatment plan these cases. The participants will gain a better grasp of the treatment of complex cases. Participants will develop better communication with their patients, laboratory technicians and specialist.
