The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners estimates that “the typical organization will lose 7%
of its annual revenues due to occupational fraud.” (Statistic taken from ACFE’s 2008 Report to
the Nation on Occupational Fraud & Abuse.) What is that number in your office?
Dental offices are typically small businesses. A large amount of trust is placed in your employees,
which is essential to true teamwork. However, there are times when this trust is abused.
This course will cover the following topics:
• the methods used by employees to embezzle and defraud;
• red flags that must be addressed immediately;
• how to set up internal controls to lower your risk of becoming a victim;
• how to proceed if you detect dishonest behavior in your office; and
• insurance fraud: what you bill for may come back to haunt you.
RESULTS: Attendees will learn what they need to know to avoid fraud and embezzlement within
their “second home.”
