Medical-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw: How Far Have We Come?

Join us for light bites, refreshments, and a special one-hour lecture led by Dr. Dalal Alhajji, an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Resident at the Mount Sinai Health System. An expert on dental oncology, Dr. Alhajji is also a member of the Society’s New Dentist Committee. In this peer-to-peer lecture, you will be updated on the latest guidelines and learn how you can help identify and assist your at-risk patients.

  • Light bites and socializing from 7:00 PM - 7:45 PM
  • Special 1 hour lecture will take place at 7:45 PM - 8:45 PM 

Key Objectives Include:

  • Review of pathophysiology, current classification system and risk factors
  • Emphasize prevention protocol
  • Discuss principles of ONJ management and the controversy between surgical and non-surgical management of MRONJ
  • Discuss recent guidelines set forth by the AAOMS 2022 paper

Speaker information: 

Dalal Alhajji, DMD, MSD is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Resident at the Mount Sinai Health System. She received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. She later completed an ‘Advanced Education in General Dentistry’ residency at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine, where she also earned her Master of Science in Dentistry degree in Oral Medicine. Dr. Alhajji is one of the few practicing dentists in the United States who completed a fellowship in Dental Oncology from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. In recognition of her work advocating for patients with cancer, she was named a 2022 recipient of the American Dental Association 10 Under 10 Award. She was also selected as the 2023 recipient of the Academy of General Dentistry’s “10 Dentists to Watch.”
