Over the course of this three-hour lecture, we will discuss the pathogenesis of oral cancer, tobacco and HPV in producing oral diseases.

Lecture 2:

Over the course of this three-hour lecture, we will discuss the pathogenesis of oral cancer, tobacco and HPV in producing oral diseases. In addition, this talk will address the life cycle of the virus and the effect of immunization on the variant HPV-associated cancer. The attendee will leave this course with up-to-date knowledge of oral cancer and HPV specifically.

Course Objectives

  • Discuss how oral cancer presents and its etiology.
  • Understand the prevalence of oral HPV in the general population
  • Differentiate between low-risk and high-risk HPV types
  • Understand the role of HPV in oral SCC
  • Differentiate between the prognosis of HPV vs non HPV associated oral cancers
