This is a Hands-On Course!
Lecture Description:
Economically challenged patients may have the financial capability to afford one or two implants to assist in retaining a removable prosthesis. Once attached to a removable partial denture these implants can create a stable and claspless esthetic replacement for multiple missing teeth. A discussion of the strategic placement of these implants, with an understanding of additional future implants allowing for a definitive fixed prosthesis, will be presented. In the maxillary arch, unsplinted implants supporting a palateless complete overdenture is somewhat controversial. Placement of four implants to retain this type of prosthesis will be discussed with regards to surgical and prosthetic nuances. In the mandibular arch, the two-implant overdenture is considered by some as the “standard of care” for the edentulous mandible. Details of fabrication and delivery will be reviewed with supporting scientific evidence. Methods of securing the retentive component to the denture base will be completed by the participants.
*Participants get to keep the edentulous overdenture practice model as a patient education tool!*
