OCR Releases HIPAA Summit 41 Resources
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office for Civil Rights (OCR) Director Melanie Fontes Rainer presented an update on recent OCR activities and priorities for 2024 as a keynote speaker at the HIPAA Summit 41 on February 27, 2024. The HIPAA Summit brought together government regulators and healthcare practitioners from across the nation to discuss HIPAA, the privacy and security of health information, and emerging issues and the challenges ahead. OCR Director Fontes Rainer spoke on recent OCR rulemakings, trends in health data breaches, recent HIPAA enforcement actions, new HIPAA enforcement initiatives, best practices, and available cybersecurity resources to improve the protection and security of health information.
