NPHL Issues Two New Public Health Resources
The Network for Public Health Law (NPHL) has issued two new public health resources that can be read and accessed below.
Office of Civil Rights Provides Updated Guidance on HIPAA and the Use of Tracking Technologies
In March, the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released a bulletin updating guidance on the use of online tracking technologies by HIPAA covered entities and their business associates. The bulletin follows renewed warnings from OCR on the dangers of online tracking technologies and comes amidst increased attention to the privacy risks that these technologies pose.
Racial Equity Impact Assessment Laws
Equity impact assessments are a tool increasingly used by states and local governments to drive more equitable policy decisions. Through the Collaborative for Anti-Racism and Equity, the Network partnered with the Public Health Law Center to create this resource compendium of proposed or enacted legislation requiring the use of racial equity impact assessments (REIAs) in state-level legislative processes across the 50 states and D.C.
